Geochemistry and Potential Hydrocarbon Source Rocks of Rambatan Formation in Karangkobar Area, Central Java

The purpose of the study in Karangkobar area was to investigate source rock potential fine-grained surface samples clastic sediments. use for Indonesia is still limited. We conducted geochemical laboratory analyses this research, including Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Rock-Eval Pyrolysis (REP), and Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GCMS). Seventeen have been analyzed their TOC content. result shows that values varied between 0.36–1.55%, indicating level based on poor fair organic richness. REP 16 samples, results show hydrocarbon-generating characteristics (HI values) ranged from 15 163 mg HC/g TOC. kerogens identified included type II III kerogen, which indicated oil gas-generating potential. temperature at maximum (Tmax) 276–458 °C, were thermally immature mature. GCMS analysis depositional environment material derived an open marine plankton environment. This essential complete understanding petroleum system Central Java.
